Fruit of the Spirit was inspired by Galatians 5:22-23 from the Holy Bible:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

These are the virtues that Amish individuals strive to attain and attempt to practice in everyday life. Mr. Stoltzfus' interpretation of the scripture and his rendering of these ideals is a most poignant and striking work.
