Christmas Shop

An Amish Christmas is a little more restrained than ours, but is nonetheless beautiful. Highlights include the local school program (see an invitation to a program in our photos above.) It is, for the most part, a deeply religious holiday spent with family.

However, cards are exchanged far and wide and presents are exchanged between family and friends. Often the presents among neighbors will be homemade food items like candy, breads, cakes, and fruit baskets.

The year we first moved to Lancaster, we were overwhelmed with gifts and were ill-equipped to reciprocate! That didn't matter- the Amish still give for the thrill and pleasure of giving.
